Terraconsult, a leading engineering design consultancy in the North West has a great opportunity for an experienced civils / earthworks engineer to join our design team. Your primary role will be to provide design support during the development and construction of landfills, quarries, mining impoundments, waste management facilities and associated infrastructure.

The role would suit candidates with 5-10 years post qualification experience in infrastructure and bulk earthworks design. We would expect the candidate to be degree or HNC/HND qualified in Civil Engineering or able to demonstrate extensive design experience, particularly in landfill design.

The anticipated duties would include:

1. Design work within the Engineering Design Department

  • Carrying out CAD and 3D modelling work using Autodesk design software

  • Preparation of specifications and documentation for earthworks and infrastructure projects

  • Providing accurate figures for bills of quantity and other purposes

2. Project Management

  • Project financial, technical and administrative management

  • Liaison other project staff, clients and regulators

  • Managing workload in conjunction with other members of the design team

  • Liaison other department Project Managers

The role requires flexibility and the successful candidate will need to be adaptable and have the confidence to deal with internal and external parties at all levels. There will be a varied workload where regular opportunities for development are available and where a willingness to grow into a leadership role would be advantageous.

We anticipate you will quickly expand your expertise to include all aspects of advanced landfill and facility development both in the UK and International sectors. You will participate in the development of junior staff through mentoring and sharing experience in contract management and administration.

The role will be located at our head office in St Helens although working from one of our regional offices may be considered for the right candidate.

We offer a salary package in the range £33-38,000 depending on experience, Contributory Pension Scheme and 25 days paid leave.
