Sustainability

Sustainability is an important aspect for businesses both during daily operations and when planning developments and capital schemes. We believe that in years to come, the only truly successful businesses will be those that achieve a sustainable balance between their own interests, and those of society and the natural world. TerraConsult help business make decisions that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs by doing business in a way that:

  • Protects the environment.
  • Minimises the use of natural resources.
  • Provides continued social progress and stable economic growth without compromising the above.
  • Our integrated sustainability solutions are used to shape strategies and inform design, investment and asset management decisions across the built and natural environment.
  • We encourage clients to consider the environmental impact of design choices. We aim to reuse materials on site wherever possible and where materials have to be imported we give preference where appropriate to the use of recycled materials rather than primary aggregates and new materials.
  • We integrate environmental, geotechnical and waste management issues to optimise designs. Through this design process we help to reduce the environmental impact of a project whilst making cost savings for our clients and helping sustainable.

Envir2Sustainable Procurement

One of the areas where significant gains in sustainability can readily be achieved is through the procurement of goods and services. We support our Clients with procurement using the guidelines in BS8903:2010 by assisting with effective management of the complete supply chain to achieve the required long term benefits.

For new construction projects we can assist Clients by following the framework in CIRIA C695 (2011) “Guide to Sustainable Procurement in Construction.” This helps with reducing life cycle costs, working towards zero waste to landfill and reducing the overall environmental impacts.
